Family on Mission

Discovery Church is the scattered people of God who happen to gather at a particular place and time under the mission “Pursuing wanderers to become wholehearted adventurers with Jesus.” While we have a definite ministry that happens when we gather, so much more of our body’s ministry is what happens when we scatter throughout the week.
What is a Family on Mission?
Spiritual Parents
All families have parents and spiritual families have spiritual parents. Whether they are the pastors, elders, designated leaders, or just everyday disciples of Jesus, we all can take responsibility for nurturing others in faith.
Missional Purpose
It's one thing to have responsibility or even be mature, but spiritual families need constant encouragement and realignment to the mission Jesus has given us.
Predictable Patterns
Families who eat together regularly tend to be healthier than others. Spiritual parents help the family develop and maintain patterns that done over time will help lead to mission fulfillment.
To facilitate the many ministries that take place beyond our walls, we have developed a form to help you tell your story. This is a way to help us know how we all can come alongside each other to give support and encouragement for the work of the Lord in and through you.
Sometimes this takes the shape of prayer, sometimes the involvement or expertise of others, and sometimes funds. Please use this form to request the involvement of your church family together with you on mission.
What you can expect:
- A follow-up call from a DC leader to discuss your mission and request
- Consideration of how to help "capitalize" you in your efforts if you cannot otherwise provide it yourself
- Publicity of your need through the to let people know what you’re doing and how they might help or get involved.
